Poll-ish Humor Look at these two astonishing cartoons which ran on the same day. Which is better? For Better or For Worse, (Sept. 17) Get Fuzzy, (Sept. 17) a. "For Better or For Worse" is better, since this cartoon, which was published in hundreds of newspapers without complaint, opens up grand new vistas for hiding profanity through misspelling. Next week, who knows -- maybe John and Ellie will be lying in bed, and John will say, "So, do you feel like fecking?" b. "Get Fuzzy" is better, because the use of dual crude metaphors for the male and female genitalia, in an examination of the get-a-life needs of Rob, sneaked right by comic editors around the country, portending even greater metaphorical feats in weeks to come, such as Rob choking a chicken to death, etc. Now look at Thursday's Pearls Before Swine. Please rate the humor content of this strip. a. Lower than those "B.C.'s" where Hart completely loses his mind and just, like, has an image of Jesus hanging on the cross with the word "Repent" spelled out in blood. b.
